Alfred Albert Dorn's Obituary
Mr. Alfred Albert “Al” Dorn, age 87, passed away Monday, March 19, 2018 in Grand Rapids following complications from a stroke. He was born in Holland, Michigan on March 10, 1931 to Albert and Anna Dorn. Al was a veteran of the United States Army and was stationed in Korea and Japan. He had worked as an accountant at Firestone and Port City Volkswagen prior to his retirement. Al was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church of Grand Haven, American Legion Post 28, GBU Club, and a silver member of the Polka Melodies Booster Club. He enjoyed traveling, working in his yard, dancing, and music. On September 24, 1955, Al married the former Edith E. Baumgart at St. John’s Lutheran Church and she survives him along with two sisters, Eva (Keith) Gift and Doris DeBurn; brother-in-law, Siegfried “Sig” (Margie) Baumgart; and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and seven siblings. VISITATION will be from 5-7 PM Thursday, March 22, 2018 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey, 231-798-1100. SERVICES will be Noon Friday, March 23, 2018 at St. John’s Lutheran Church (527 Taylor Ave., Grand Haven) with Rev. Kurt Wenzelburger officiating. Burial will be in Spring Lake Cemetery. MEMORIALS in memory of Al may be directed to St. John’s Lutheran Church.
