Alfred G Wheater's Obituary
Alfred G. Wheater, age 101, died peacefully Wednesday evening, in Muskegon, at Lake Woods Nursing Center. He was born June 13, 1913 to Grant and Edith (Gilbert) Wheater in Muskegon Heights; and has been a life resident of the area. He had been a pattern maker at Pyle Pattern for 23 years before retiring from Anderson Pattern, in 1976, where he had been employed 15 years. Mr. Wheater was a member of Forest Park Covenant Church. Al was preceded in death by his wife, the former Gertrude VanDonkelaar, on December 13, 1994; son, Gary Wheater; daughter, Shirley Hilliard; grandsons, Dale Raffie and Gregory Vermeulen; grand daughter-in-law, Janet Martin; great-grandson Jeffrey R. Hilliard his parents and brother, Paul Wheater. SURVIVORS include 4 children, Alfred “John” (Ginny) Wheater of Sparta, Beverly (Jim Martin) Raffie of Muskegon, Darlene (David) Martin of Roosevelt Park and Linda (Larry) Haeger of Montague; 21 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and special friend, Marcella Anderson. Funeral Services will be held 10:30 AM Monday, August 25, 2014 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc., 6291 S. Harvey Street, Norton Shores, MI 49444 (231-798-1100), with the Rev. Wally Coots officiating. Burial will be in Mona View Cemetery. VISITATION with Alfred’s family will be 6 – 8:00PM Sunday.
