Alia Noel Zuidema's Obituary
Alia Noel Zuidema, age 15 of Grand Haven, MI ran into the arms of Jesus Saturday afternoon, April 29, 2023. She was born full of life on October 1, 2007, in Grand Haven to Jason and Anne (Bareman) Zuidema. Alia was an 8th grade graduate & salutatorian of Grand Haven Christian School and was a freshman at Western Michigan Christian High School where she quickly became a beloved leader among her peers in the classroom, in the halls, and on the field. She was a member of Second Christian Reformed Church where she publicly professed her place in God’s story. She was outspoken about her love for Jesus.
Alia was an amazing young lady who made an impression wherever she went – on the cross country course, basketball court, and soccer pitch. Soccer was her passion where she spent countless hours training and preparing for her dream of playing D1 soccer. She made the most of every opportunity with her club soccer team, the Michigan Rangers. She sang her heart out both in the choir and in the family kitchen. She loved skiing with her dad and late night ice cream runs with her mom. Her favorite moments were sunsets with Bri, soccer training in the yard with Ky, Crumbl cookies with friends, and summer trips & tubing with cousins.
She lived all of life with purpose and conviction. Her kindness was contagious and will never be forgotten. She lived life with a ferociousness and joy that few could match. She was a great encourager as well as a loyal and steadfast daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, cousin, friend, and teammate. Alia lived life to the fullest while also living a life of service to God in His world. She is fiercely loved by all who came in contact with her.
She will be dearly missed by her parents, Jason & Anne; sisters, Brianna & Kyla; grandparents: Doug & Jan Zuidema, Gregg & Jane Bareman; aunts, uncles and cousins: Brent & Ellen Tuinstra (Brayden, Landon); Troy & Sara Stahl (Camden, Brett, Gavin); Mitch & Emily Bareman (Kaden, Makenna, Ainsley); Joe & Lea Oosterheert (Bryson, Rylee, Madison, Kacie); her best friend, Lucia Folkert, along with countless friends and teammates.
