Alice Magdalene Johnson-Vollmer's Obituary
Alice Magdalene Johnson-Vollmer, age 84, of Nunica passed away Sunday, July 15, 2018 at Florida Memorial Medical Center. She was born January 2, 1934, in Rockwood, TN to Joseph F. and Flossie (West) Cates, and she married Russell Vollmer, Jr. on April 8, 2006. He preceded her in death on May 29, 2017.
Alice was a member of Nortonville Gospel Chapel, and participated in the church’s missionary circle and quilting group. She retired from Meijer as manager of loss prevention. Alice enjoyed quilting, reading, traveling, knitting, sewing, her cats, and most of all spending time with her family.
She is lovingly remembered by her sister, Helen Willis of Rockwood, TN; niece, Linda Stites; five children: Tim (Raquel) Johnson, Roy (Karen) Johnson Jr., Theresa (Dan) Bryant, Joy Casemier, and Kimberly Wetterman; five step-children: Bob (Sandy) Vollmer, Jeff (Paula) Vollmer, Larry (Kathy) Vollmer, Bruce (Denise) Vollmer, and Brian Vollmer; 22 grandchildren (10 step-grandchildren), 16 great-grandchildren (10 step-great-grandchildren). She was preceded in death by her first husband, Roy Johnson, Sr.; 2 sisters, and 2 brothers.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 28, 2018, at Nortonville Gospel Chapel with Pastor Joe O’Neill officiating. Friends may meet the family 4-7 p.m. Friday, July 27, at The Spring Lake Chapel (213 E. Savidge). Interment will be in Nunica Cemetery.
