Alice J. Land's Obituary
Alice J. Land, age 78, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 13, 2023, surrounded by her loving family in her dream home. She was born on October 31, 1944, to Delmar and Agnes (Smith) Anderson in Youngstown, OH. In her earlier years, Mishawaka, IN was home to Alice, she graduated from Mishawaka High School class of 1962. She then continued her education at Ball State University where she earned her bachelor’s degree in education. After graduation, she continued her education career at Butler University earning her master’s degree. Alice had a passion for teaching and poured her heart and soul into her students. She dedicated over 30+ years to teaching between Nobleville Community Schools and Brownsburg Community Schools, before retiring in 2004. Besides being an amazing educator, she was also a talented cook and baker, learning from her mother and passing it on to her children. Alice loved making homemade dishes and delicious cakes to send home with her family and friends. She enjoyed her many cooking shows, playing words with friends and spending time with her pup, Sophie and cat, Missy Kitty. Above all, she cherished the moments spent with her family and friends. Alice will always be remembered as a wonderful mentor who was never too busy to help out others. She was known as a tough cookie, who never complained and always had a positive outlook on life, even on the toughest of days. Her passion and kind-hearted spirit genuinely impacted the lives of so many whose path she crossed. Alice’s sense of humor, sarcasm and wonderfully infectious laugh will be missed by the many who knew and loved her. She is survived by her three children, Melissa Land, Steve (Bunny) Land and James (Sally) Land; five grandchildren, Kiel, Jake Tylor, Anthony and Rayna; sisters-in-law, Ann Anderson and Patti Winsemius. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Dick Anderson and Dave Anderson; and father of her children, James E. Land. Per Alice’s wishes, no services will be held, she would rather you cheers to her. Memorial contributions in her honor can be directed to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
