Martha, I first got to know Al the times when he and I were the only two who showed up at a 10 week day meeting. We had a meeting that could have been very short, but we chose to stay and chat just incase someone came for their first meeting, or someone really needed one. What a wonderfully interesting person. Your loving care of Al these past several years was not always easy, I'm sure. But you did so with grace and love. What a marvelous example you have been you have been for me. Love you so much Vicki

What a kind and gentle soul he was. He had the most brilliant smile that I will not soon forget. I am comforted to know that he passed on a day which signifies peace and joy, understanding that he emulated those traits to all he encountered. The Little Red House Staff

Al held a very special place at our table at The Little Red House each day. He was a bright light and made friends with everyone. He had a gift for making all participants feel like they were special, had value, and he was always interested in their personal stories. Al had the best smile. And, on his last day with us – he just wanted to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich (with his green shake, of course!) in our kitchen and enjoy it. His smile after that sandwich radiated throughout our building. His passing on Christmas Day was surreal and reminiscent of him singing “White Christmas” to us as his gift to us (a cappella). Al and Martha were willing to share their story and connection with The Little Red House in the community. The Little Red House offers Martha and Al’s family our heartfelt condolences.
