Allan D. Pruim's Obituary
Allan Duane Pruim, age 67, of Fruitport, passed away Monday, December 27, 2021 following a short illness. He was born June 17, 1954 in Muskegon to Lawrence and Virginia (Hunter) Pruim. Al was a U.S. Army Veteran and worked 29 years at Herman Miller in Spring Lake as a machine tech. He loved his coworkers and always tried to keep peace with everyone. He loved working in the yard, planting flowers, and watching the birds and squirrels on the feeders. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and his trips to the casino in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. You could always recognize Al coming in his orange hunting hat, which he wore whenever it was cold outside. He also loved working on his beloved Land Rover when it broke down. No project was too big when it came to fixing something or remodeling the home. He enjoyed spending time with his cat “Shadow” and watching him do his tricks. Decorating the yard for Christmas was one of his favorite things to do. The display would get larger every year. He was also a member of the Muskegon Eagles Aerie #668. On August 14, 2011, he married Janice VanDonkelaar on Mackinac Island and she survives him along with a son, Brent (wife, Brooke) Pruim and their family, Declan and Griffin of Norton Shores; daughter, Brittani (husband, Benjamin) Kuempel and their family, Kori, Kyler, and Kooper of Galesburg, MI; and a sister, Karen (husband, Ray) Kramb of Three Rivers, MI. The family of Allan would like to thank the staff of 5 Center at Spectrum Butterworth Hospital of Grand Rapids, MI and the Leila and Cyrus Poppen Hospice Residence of Harbor Hospice. The doctors, nurses, palliative care team, and the cleaning staff were understanding, caring, and loving to the needs of Allan and his family during this most difficult time. Services for Allan will be held at a later date. Interment of his cremains will take place in Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, MI.
