Allen and Jolene Ames' Obituary
Allen D. (82) and Jolene Ann (Vandenberg) Ames (84) passed away suddenly on July 22, 2015. Allen was born on October 11, 1932 and Jolene was born on May 8, 1931 both in Muskegon. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Allen worked almost 32 years for Shaw Box as a welder, while Jolene stayed home and cared for the family. Both were devoted to their family and loved to spend time with them. Some of their favorite things to do were to play golf, read, fish and work in the yard. They were married on August 10, 1955 in Chicago, IL. SURVIVORS include son, Scott (Sue) Ames of Casnovia; daughter-in-law, Dawn Ames of Muskegon, 4 grandchildren, Casey Ames, Kathryn (Adam) Sullivan, Carina (Nick) Curtis and Cameron Ames and 2 great-grandchildren. Their son, Chris preceded them in death on July 13, 2015. Allen is also survived by his sister, Elna VanVliet and sister-in-law, Geraldine Ames. Jolene is also survived by her brothers, James (Patricia) Vandenberg, Richard (Joanne) Vandenberg and sister, Bernadine (Robert) White. Allen was preceded in death by 2 brothers and 2 sisters and Jolene was preceded in death by her brother, Jerry Vandenberg. A MEMORIAL SERVICE with Military Rites will be held 11:00AM, Saturday, August 1, 2015 at The Lee Chapel 6291 S. Harvey St., 231-798-1100 with Pastor Tim Bryson officiating.
