Allen Richard Swartzlander's Obituary
Allen Richard Swartzlander, age 75, passed away on Monday, February 27, 2023, in Fremont, MI. Allen was born in Toledo, OH, on July 14, 1947, to his parents Glenn and Virginia (Hartman) Swartzlander Sr. Allen graduated from Mona Shores High School in 1965, and then served in the United States Army. Upon his return, he married the former Paulette Boucher, and they spent 30 wonderful years together until she preceded him in death in 2002. Allen worked for 47 years at Meijer, retiring in 2010. Allen was a private person who mostly kept to himself, but he did enjoy spending time with his family, especially his granddaughter Ava. He enjoyed watching sports, especially Michigan football and Red Wings hockey. He had an interesting sense of humor, and he enjoyed fishing the Muskegon channel and at Pickerel Lake in Fremont. He will be lovingly remembered by his son, Mr. Adam Swartzlander; granddaughter, Ava Swartzlander; three siblings: Dr. Glenn (Mrs. Pat) Swartzlander Jr., Mrs. Mary (Ray) Kuypers, and Mr. Michael (Sharon) Swartzlander; many nieces and nephews; and close friend, Heather Nichols. He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn Sr. and Virginia; and his wife, Paulette. A FUNERAL will be taking place for Allen at 11:00 AM on Monday, March 6, 2023, at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St, Norton Shores, MI, 49444. VISITATION will be taking place an hour prior. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made out to The Wounded Warrior Project or to Adam Swartzlander for Ava Swartzlander’s College Education Fund.
