Alma Marjorie Engle's Obituary
Mrs. Alma M. Engle, age 93, passed away Thursday, December 19, 2013 at North Ottawa Community Hospital. She was born December 20, 1919 in Grand Rapids, MI to the late James and Sarah (Wheeler) Halpin. She married Anthony F. Engle in Angola, IN on June 21, 1947. He preceded her in death on February 14, 1999. Alma was employed as a Press Operator at George Morrell Co. for 25 years until her retirement in 1981. After her retirement she pursued her interests in oil painting, attended a variety classes, bought and sold antiques and collectibles. She also enjoyed reading, walking, gardening and knitting. She is survived by: her daughter, Celeste (Paul) LaForest of Grant, MI; 4 grandchildren, Mary Rose Hayes, Peggy (Randy) Goodin, Sue Ann Hayes and Robert Hayes; 2 great-granddaughters, Desirae Hayes and Katrina Goodin; 1 sister, Donna Johnson of Muskegon. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Rosemary Hayes. Alma was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. There will be no service or visitation at this time. She will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Those desiring an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Alzheimer’s Association. Arrangements by The Lee Chapel, 6291 S.
