Alma Elizabeth Olsen's Obituary
Mrs. Alma Elizabeth Olsen, age 88, passed away Sunday, August 24, 2014 at a local nursing home. She was born March 18, 1926 in Muskegon to the late Anton and Hazel (Hartzell) Jensen. Alma married Hans Olsen in Muskegon on March 19, 1949. Together, they raised two daughters, Signe E. VanMeter and Sonja A. (Phil) Cappelleri. Hans preceded her in death on December 31, 2007. Signe and Sonja have both preceded her in death. Alma was a very active member of Vikings Linne’ Lodge 57, singing in the choir and volunteering in various other activities. She was a former member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. She is survived by her son-in-law, Philip A. Cappelleri of Norton Shores; several nieces and nephews; and also her loving family in Norway. She was also preceded in death by 2 sisters, Beverly Skok and Della Korstanje. The MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 30, 2014 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., (231) 798-1100. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. She will be laid to rest in Norton Cemetery. Those desiring an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Vikings Scholarship Fund.
