Alma Lee Williams' Obituary
Alma Lee Knighten was born December 21, 1930 to Pearly Jr. and Maggie Knighten in Louisiana. She was the second of four children and was the oldest daughter. Alma graduated from Lowery High School in Donaldsonville, LA. On July 17, 1952 Alma married George Williams. That union would bring three children, Glenda Marie born in 1953 (died 2020), Gregory Royal born in 1954, and Jeffery Wayne born in 1955. In the 1960s, the Williams family moved to Michigan. Alma was a 3rd shift nurse at Brookhaven Medical Care Facility. Being a caregiver was something that came natural to her. That lead her to be a licensed foster mother through the State of Michigan. Also, she graduated from Garnett School of Cosmetology in Muskegon Heights on August 4, 1960. She was a licensed hairstylist. Alma’s faith and belief in Jesus Christ was the foundation of her life. For decades, she served faithfully at Jackson Hill Missionary Baptist Church. She was a deaconess, culinary leader, and helped other ministries as needed. Alma was known for her cooking (most specifically her gumbo) and watching soap operas which she called her stories. Dallas and Dynasty were her Primetime shows. She enjoyed her game shows like The Price is Right and Wheel of Fortune. She was also a sports fan. Alma played basketball which was her favorite sport. She followed the Detroit Pistons and consistently watched the NBA Playoffs.
On Thursday, July 13, 2023, Alma went home to take her rest in the arms of our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ.
