Alma A. Dostert's Obituary
Mrs. Alma Alice Dostert, age 85, passed away Friday, November 13, 2009, following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Alma was born in Des Moines, IA on October 11, 1924, the younger of two children to John T. and Mary Alma (Davey) Peck. On Christmas Day 1944, she married Vincent H. Dostert and shortly thereafter moved to Muskegon in 1945. For the next 64 years, Alma and Vincent enjoyed life together, flying, traveling, boating, snowmobiling and wintering in Arizona. Alma also had an artistic flair as she enjoyed crafts and was an accomplished painter. She was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, the 7th Guild, the Red Hat Society in Arizona, and just recently received her 60-year pin from the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She is survived by her husband, Vincent; four children: Stephen J. Dostert of Grant, Lynelle S. (Bert) Brown of Hudsonville, David W. (Carol) Dostert of Twin Lake and Lisa M. (Dwight) Stafford of Whitehall; 7 grandchildren: Michael Dostert, Paul (Michaela) Baker, Tricia (Marty) Maxim, Casey (Sara) Dostert, Kyle (Autumn) Dostert, Kelsey Bobryk, Christopher Bobryk and Nichole Stafford; and four great-grandchildren: Dylan, Camden, Brady and Bella. Alma was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Jack. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 1006 Third St., 11:00 A.M., Monday, Fr. Thomas C.H. Scott, DM presiding. Visitation with the family will be held at: The Lee Chapel Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 6291 S. Harvey St. 231-798-1100 Sunday 5-8 P.M. and 1 hour prior to the service in the church parlor.
