Almer R. Bailey's Obituary
Mr. Almer R. Bailey “Uncle Bud”, age 96, passed away in Whitehall on Thursday, June 2, 2022. He was born in Hart, Michigan on July 28, 1925 to Almer and Lucy (Taylor) Bailey. On September 11, 1944, Almer married the former Elaine E. “Angel” Bailey and she preceded him in death on May 9, 2009. Almer worked at Reliable Brake and Tire, Johnson Products, and later for Sealed Power Hi-Lift Division, where he was employed for 31 years prior to his retirement in 1982. He had also owned and operated the Pines Motel and Port City Cylinder Service from 1968-1982. Almer was a volunteer fireman for Muskegon Township, station #3, a life-member of the VFW #3734 and had attended Twin Lake United Methodist Church. He loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed smelt dipping in the U.P. with his family. He spent many winters at his home in Dunedin, Florida where he enjoyed playing shuffleboard. He also loved driving his 1968 white Mini Mart Kit Car and bowling. In addition to his wife, Elaine, Almer was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters, Gloria Sawyer, Molly Jablonski, Lucina Janes, and Dolly Kirksey. He is survived by his children, Gary Bailey, Marie (Duane) Hogsett, Clara Spicer, Guy (Gloria) Bailey, and Jean Oudsema; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and his special lady, Marilyn Dykstra. A GRAVESIDE SERVICE for Almer will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, June 9, 2022 at Sunrise Memorial Gardens (2188 Remembrance Dr, Muskegon, MI 49442) followed by a MEMORIAL LUNCHEON from 2-4 PM Thursday, June 9, 2022 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444.
