Aloise Gillard's Obituary
Mrs. Aloise Gillard, ascended into Heaven Sunday, September 6, 2009, following a heart attack.  She was 81 years old and a lifelong resident of Muskegon.  She is survived by her devoted husband of 52 years, Richard; and her 3 children, Michelle (Paul) Janusiewicz of Muskegon, Janine Knapp of San Diego, CA, and Jeff (Renee) Gillard of Tacoma, WA; 6 grandchildren; a brother, Paul (Virginia) Champoux of Ypsilanti, MI;  and several nieces and nephews.
Aloise was one of the first two women to graduate from the University of Michigan Law School.  That was a tremendous achievement, given the obstacles in those days.   She became the first graduate female attorney in Muskegon County and practiced law until last year.  Aloise loved her grandchildren, her friends, and Lake Michigan.  She was  involved in numerous Bible studies, and groups including; The Service League, Junior League, Michigan Bar, Cam Club, Salvation Army, Town Club, Women’s Division of the Muskegon Chamber of Commerce, Vikings Lodge, and  Zeta Tau Alpha.  Aloise always made people smile and feel good, even up until her last few days.  A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at 3:00 P.M. Saturday, September 12, 2009, at Forest Park Covenant Church (3815 Henry St.) with Rev. Paul Champoux officiating. VISITATION will be one hour prior to the service (2-3:00 P.M.).  Arrangements by Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc., 759-8565. Aloise wished for everyone to have the joy and peace of knowing Jesus.
