Mr. Alphonsus "Brub" W. Rafferty Jr.'s Obituary
Alphonsus “Brub” W. Rafferty, Jr. passed away Sunday, January 25, 2015 at the Grand Rapids Home for Veteran’s surrounded by his loving family. He was born February 14, 1924 to Mary and Alphonsus W. Rafferty, Sr. in Muskegon. Alphonsus was a proud veteran of the United States Army; he served as a tank driver during World War II. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing and was a member of The Mona Lake Boat Club as well as VFW Post #446. Brub is survived by his son, Mark (Christy) Rafferty; grandchildren, Angie Rafferty, Maria (Matt) Myers, Kari (Nick) Hibbard, Danielle (Eddie) O’Shinski, Shelby McGrady, Jason Livingston, Brooke Livingston, and Amie Livingston – Wendt; and 9 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Barbara Rafferty; daughter, Suzanne Kerr; and 7 brothers and sisters. A VISITATION will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St. (231-798-1100), on Wednesday, January 28, 2015. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held Thursday, January 29, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Burial will take place at a later date in Lakeside Cemetery. Contributions in Alphonsus’ name can be made to the Grand Rapids Home for Veteran’s.
