Mrs. Alta Mae Hinton's Obituary
Mrs. Alta Mae Hinton, age 96, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 18, 2015. She was born in Woodville, MI on August 23, 1918 to George Nelson and Alice Roselind (Murray) Cook and was a resident of Muskegon for over 70 years. She was a member of West Michigan Worship Center and a former auxiliary member of the Holton American Legion. Mae enjoyed gardening, reading, traveling, and telling stories about her family and the past. On May 30, 1937, Mae married Richard Duane Hinton in South Bend, IN and he preceded her in death on October 28, 1960. Mae is survived by six children, George (Betty) Hinton, Lorraine (Dale Jolman) Johnson, Linda Walker, Marcia Reyes, Keith Hinton, and Roxanne (Edward) Parker; 18 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren and 45 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Mae was preceded in death by one son, Lyle Hinton; one daughter, Dixie Davis; one son-in-law, Roy Walker; her parents; three brothers, Louis Cook, Harry Cook, George Cook and two sisters, Margaret Burden and Margie Cox. SERVICES will be 4:00 PM Saturday, March 21, 2015 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., 231-798-1100 with Rev. Robert Johnson officiating. VISITATION will be from 4-8 PM Friday, March 20, 2015.
