Alta Marylene VanderSlute's Obituary
Alta “Marylene” VanderSlute, age 83, passed away on November 5, 2017 at Christian Care Assisted Living Facility. She was born on August 25, 1934 to William and Gladys (Stafford) Gagnon in Muskegon. Marylene was a member of Friendship Wesleyan Church and was involved with Life Circles. She was famous for her no-bake cookies, but also enjoyed painting, ceramics, embroidering and playing cards. Marylene had worked 25 years for Brenneman in Muskegon. On June 28, 1954 she married the love of her life Frank L. VanderSlute Sr. and he preceded her in death on December 13, 1999. SURVIVORS include five children, Frank (Sandy) VanderSlute, Pat (Kelly) Radel, Dan (Sheila) VanderSlute, Linda (Bill) Gutowski, and Steve (Camarin) Talarico; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and special cat, Cici. She was also preceded in death by her parents, 1 brother and 2 sisters. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday, November 9, 2017 at Friendship Wesleyan Church (1761 N Roberts Rd) with Pastor Rick Ferris officiating. VISITATION with the family will be one hour prior to the service. MEMORIALS can be directed to Christian Care Assisted Living or Life Circles. A private burial will take place at Laketon Township Cemetery.
