Alvaro Loera's Obituary
Mr. Alvaro Loera, age 72, died unexpectedly Friday, April 27, 2012, at his home. He was born December 11, 1939 in Crystal City, TX and has resided in the Muskegon area since 1948. Alvaro, with his wife, Jane, have owned and operated Flamingo Restaurants. On July 31, 1964 he married the former Juanita “Jane” Arizola and she preceded him in death on August 2, 2004. He was also preceded in death by his son, Alfonso on September 21, 2000, his brother, Manuel Loera, Jr. and sister, Susie Ahumada. SURVIVORS include 1 son, Valentino Loera of Muskegon Heights; 3 daughters, Anita Loera of Muskegon and Corrina Loera of Muskegon Heights and Amber Loera of Muskegon; 6 grandchildren, Alec, Jaron, Jason, Eric, Mia and Julian; 1 brother, Pastor Roberto (Lupe) Loera of New Era and 3 sister, Lupe (Pete) Cortez of Spring Lake, Juanita Loera of Milwaukee, WI and Pura Luz Loera of Crystal City, TX; and by many nieces and nephews; and by his dog, Kolbe. Alvaro was a member of the Muskegon Height’s VFW Post; and enjoyed cooking, feeding his birds and squirrels and watching “General Hospital” for over 45 years. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held 11 AM Saturday at The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 737 Apple Avenue. Muskegon, MI 49442 (231-726-5210), with the Pastor Roberto Loera officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. VISITATION with Alvaro’s family will be 2-4 & 6-8PM Friday. The Rosary will be prayed at 6PM. For a more lasting memorial, you are asked to consider Victim’s Services of the Muskegon County Sheriff Department.
