Alvin J. "Al" Lubbers' Obituary
Mr. Alvin J. “Al” Lubbers, age 60, died very unexpectedly Saturday morning, April 3, 2004. He was born April 28, 1943 in Muskegon to Elmer J. and Minnie (Pranger) Lubbers, and had been a life resident. Mr. Lubbers worked for Futura Home Decorating for 4 years, and for several years prior at Langlois. He had just started as a tour bus driver for the Gold Shield Shuttle Service. Mr. Lubbers was a lifelong member of Fifth Reformed Church, where he served as an Elder, Deacon, and bus driver. He enjoyed camping, bowling, and golfing. On April 3, 1964, he married the former Ruth Dewind in Muskegon and she survives him along with 2 sons, Rick Lubbers of North Muskegon, Scott (Stephanie) Lubbers, and their expected child in September, of Fruitport; his mother, Minnie Lubbers of Muskegon; 2 sisters, Sharon Johnson of Nashville, TN, Judy (Steve) Pierce of Muskegon; mother-in-law, Lucille Dewind of Muskegon; 2 sisters-in-law, Marsha (Terry) Rutherford of Muskegon, Jan (Chet) Reed of Norton Shores; nieces and nephews, Tighe and Brett Pierce, Rich (Pam) Kramer, Shelley (Dave) Cornelius, Tiffany, Jordon, and Jaclyn Reed. He was preceded in death by his father, Elmer J. Lubbers, and father-in-law, Jack Dewind. SERVICES will be 1:00 PM Wednesday at Fifth Reformed Church with Rev. Norman Swier officiating. Burial will be in Laketon Twp. Cemetery. VISITATION with the family will be from 3-5 & 7-9 PM Tuesday at Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 737 Apple Ave.(231) 726-5210.
