Amos B. Hampton's Obituary
Mr. Amos B. Hampton, age 84, passed away Monday, August 1, 2011. Amos was born January 1, 1927 to Frank and Zada (Cole) Hampton in Monroe County, Tennessee. He moved to the area in 1954. Amos worked for a utility company, had his own business for many years called “Hampton’s General Repair” and worked 37 years at S.D. Warren until his retirement in 1991. He was a member of The Lakes Community Church of the Nazarene and was devoted to taking care of the church grounds. He raced stock cars for 21 years and also loved to fish. On August 25, 1975, he married the former Marjorie Dietderich in Muskegon and she survives him along with 3 sons, James (Joan) Hampton, Don (Kathy) Hampton, Danny (Janet) Hampton; 2 stepchildren, Mike (Marlene) Earnest and Nancy Spring; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson; and 4 sisters, Estvee, Cory, Myrtle and Zide. The FUNERAL SERVICE will be Friday, August 5, 2011 at 11 a.m. at The Lakes Community Church of the Nazarene, 2270 S. Mill Iron Rd. with Pastor Tom Parks officiating. VISITATION will be Friday, at the church from 9:30 – 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or The Lakes Community Church of the Nazarene.
