Mrs. Amy Hodson, age 89, passed away on June 13, 2024. Amy was born at home in Muskegon on July 16, 1934, to William and Myrtle (Peterson) Peterson. Amy loved sports and music. She graduated from Muskegon High School, where she loved being part of the band. Her love for music was passed down to her children. On August 21, 1953, she married Dean M. Hodson in Muskegon. Dean was in the Army, stationed in Bad Aibling, Germany. One year later, Amy joined him and lived there for two years. Their daughter, Pamela, was born in Germany. After Dean’s tour of service, the young family moved back to Muskegon. Dean and Amy were married for 49 years when Dean passed away in 2002. Amy’s first job was at the telephone company. She also worked as a mail carrier and later had a dog grooming business.
Amy's life was deeply rooted in her faith. She was a devoted member of Eastlawn and Fellowship Reformed Church. Her faith was a driving force in her life, leading her to be actively involved in the church's prayer ministry. Amy was a woman of strong convictions with a deep passion for social justice. She was an ardent supporter of the Democratic Party and actively participated in various presidential campaigns, advocating for causes she believed in. Amy enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling, cottage vacations, camping, and fishing. She was also an avid Tigers fan.
