Amy Beth Iwaniw's Obituary
Amy Beth Iwaniw, age 67, passed away peacefully at home on June 30, 2026.
Born on April 2, 1959, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Amy was the daughter of Leonard (Bill) and Ida McDougal. She graduated from Ravenna High School in 1977, earned her bachelor’s degree from Grand Valley State University, and later received her master’s degree in education from Western Michigan University.
On August 16, 1986, Amy married the love of her life, Greg Iwaniw. Together they shared nearly 40 years of marriage, creating a life centered on love, family, and unwavering devotion.
Amy dedicated 33 years to teaching at Kent City Public Schools, where she inspired generations of students with her kindness, patience, and belief in every child. Even after retiring in 2016, her love for children continued through her work at Schwallier’s Country Basket.
Amy’s greatest joy was her family. She was a loving wife, devoted mother, and the most incredible grandmother. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she treasured every moment spent making memories with them. She also cherished time with her sister, dear friends, traveling, volunteering, and giving back to the community she loved.
Anyone who knew Amy loved her. Her caring heart, gentle spirit, and selfless nature made everyone feel welcomed, valued, and loved. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion, service, and unconditional love that will live on through the countless lives she touched.
Amy is survived by her husband, Greg Iwaniw; her children, Scott (Kelee) Iwaniw and Anna (Nick) Testy; her cherished grandchildren, Shea, Camden, and Luca Iwaniw, and Eliana Testy; her sister, Karla Bundy and niece, Aylin Bundy. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard (Bill) and Ida McDougal, and her nephew, Taylor Bundy.
Amy will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her family, friends, former students, and all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
A memorial service for Amy will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 11, at Mamrelund Lutheran Church, 4085 Lutheran Church Rd. NW, Kent City, MI 49330. Visitation will take place on Friday, July 10, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the church.
Memorial contributions in Amy’s honor may be made to Mamrelund Lutheran Church.
