Amy Marie Mahoney's Obituary
Amy Marie Sutherlin Mahoney passed away in her sleep, on the morning of October 31, 2017. She was born in Grand Rapids, MI on January 1st, 1960. Amy was a long term survivor of Breast Cancer and was currently living in the Poppen Hospice House in Muskegon, MI. She was preceded in death by her parents Jack & Gloria Sutherlin and her sister Donna Timm. She is survived by Patricia Mottor, Marianne (Ken) Newman, John Sutherlin, Paul Sutherlin, Laurie (Alexander) Fergus, and several nieces and nephews. Amy loved Jewelry making and several Arts & Crafts. She was employed in Jewelry repair at Jared, Siegel, and others throughout her career. Having been deaf her whole life, she had several friends in the Deaf Community – some since her early childhood. One of her lasting legacies was the sign language she taught the care-givers at the Hospice House. There are no immediate funeral plans for Amy, but there will be some type of memorial planned in the Spring. In memory of Amy, donations may be made to Harbor Hospice (harborhospice.org), Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services (deafhhs.org), or MSU Breslin Cancer Center (healthteam.msu.edu).
