Amy A. White's Obituary
Amy Mahan White of Fruitport, Michigan passed away unexpectedly on May 22, 2024, at the age of 52, after a long and courageous battle with meningitis and cancer.
Amy was born to Gary and Melinda (Bates) Mahan on October 2, 1971. On July 27, 1996, Amy married her beloved husband, Robert White, who survives her. They were a loving team from then on.
Together they raised their son Jimmy. Amy will always be remembered for her contagious smile and positive faith and attitude during her illness. Amy loved watching the Detroit Tiger, Detroit Lions, and Michigan Football with Bob and Jimmy. Since her illness she enjoyed adult coloring, word searches and reading also phase 10, and Yahtzee with whoever she could convince to play with her. Amy also made sure to keep up with all her friends on social media.
Amy is also survived by her son, James White; mom, Melinda “Linda” Mahan; sisters, Kathy Larsen, Audra Mahan, and Angela Williams Mahan. She also leaves behind her special Aunt, best friend, second mom and partner in crime, Deb Mahan Nelson (Dale Nelson) and their sidekick, Char Lockhart; two stepdaughters, Nicki White and Becky White. Amy also leaves behind her in-laws, Darlene Alviar, Lori (Grant) Hudson, Tina (Dave) Wagner, Billy (Brandy) White; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews, her best friend, Christine Pendock along with a circle of many other close friends. Amy was preceded in death by her father, Gary Robert Mahan; in-laws, Robert and June White; and grandparents, Don and Marie Bates, and Ray and Shirley Mahan.
A Memorial Service for Amy will be held on Thursday, June 13, 2024, from 2-5:00 PM at the VFW Derezinski Post #7729, 6285 E. Apple Ave., Muskegon, MI 49442. Arrangements entrusted to The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 737 E. Apple Ave. Muskegon, MI 49442.
