Andrea "Gay" Greenawalt's Obituary
Andrea “Gay” Greenawalt, age 75, passed away Tuesday, August 29, 2023. She was born September 21, 1947 in Muskegon to Arvid and Eadith (Drewes) Berglund. Gay graduated from Grant High School in 1965 and attended beauty school in Marquette, MI. Gay then met and married the father of her three children while attending beauty school. She then met and married Robert Greenawalt in 1974, who proceeded to adopt her three children as his own. Gay worked in the school system throughout her life, beginning at Oakridge and then eventually retiring from Orchard View with Michigan Works in 2013. She loved shopping (especially yard sales), collecting, playing Skip-Bo and dominos, camping, traveling and visiting her daughter in New Hampshire, drinking coffee, and having lunch with her girlfriends. But most importantly, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and attending all their sporting activities. Gay had many special friends that she considered family. She had a great big heart and was always there to lend a helping hand. Her family and friends will always remember her favorite sayings “Life is Good” and “Love You to the Moon and back.” She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. SURVIVORS include three children: Andrea M. (Steven) LaRusso of New Hampshire, William (Stephanie) Greenawalt, and Barb (Robert) Alviar both of Muskegon; 12 grandchildren: Anthony (Olivia) LaRusso, Alexa LaRusso, Trevor LaRusso, Adrianna Greenawalt, William Greenawalt Jr., Dominic Greenawalt, Nicholas Greenawalt, Maria Greenawalt, Caitlin (Tyler) Keglovitz, Kelsey (Cameron) Simot, Emily Rose Santos, and Annmarie Santos; 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Kendall (Sandy) Berglund of Twin Lake; two nieces: Cheryl Harvey and Tatum Ponte; and three nephews: Scott Harvey, Joel Berglund, and Tony Berglund.
