Andrew J. "Andy" Harwood's Obituary
Andrew J. “Andy” Harwood, age 89, passed away Monday, March 4, 2019. He was born January 13, 1930 in Ludington, MI to John and Millie (Borger) Harwood. On August 17, 1951, he married Dolores M. Nelson in Ludington and she preceded him in death on February 12, 2005. In his early years, Andy painted many of the local ferries in Ludington. He then worked 33 years as a painter for Briske Painting and Decorating in Muskegon prior to his retirement. Andy enjoyed hunting, fishing, and getting together with family and friends for picnics and barbequing at local area parks. He was a member of First Christian Church in Muskegon. SURVIVORS include 5 children: Eleanor (Larry) Minzey, Betty Scarbrough, Andrea (Ernest) Larson, Richard (Becky) Harwood, Millie (Brian, Sr.) Rowe; son-in-law, Bob Collis; 21 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his parents; siblings; daughter, Carol Collis; and son-in-law, Ron Scarbrough. SERVICES for Andy will be held 11:00 AM Friday, March 8, 2019 at The Sytsema Chapel, 737 Apple Ave., (231) 726-5210 with Pastor Bob Grams officiating. VISITATION with the family will be from 6-8 PM Thursday, March 7, 2019 and also one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place in Oakhurst Cemetery in Whitehall.
