Integrity...I did not realize until my last visit with Andy, that a word that would describe his life from the time we were young boys was integrity. My military career had put a distance of many years between us, and when duty took me to Grand Rapids in 2007 I did not miss the opportunity to see by brother. The connection of family that shaped his life was strong and peaceful. Rosemary called all the children home, and it was a special time. I recognized that in each of his daughters and sons was a solid remnant of Andy's and Rosemary's high standards for living life.
He took on the role of tour guide during my visit, and we traveled memory land. Seeing the changes and growth of Muskegon, proved to be bittersweet.
Laughter was refreshing as we recalled a memory of our young teenage years. Allowance in hand we hopped the train on Saturday's and rode to town. That was the highlight of our weekend, go to a movie, and shop a little, then hop our ride home.
I visited with Andy several weeks ago, and we spoke of God, family, and prayer. HIs faith was strong. It was during this visit, that we both realized and discussed this would be our last earthly visit. Sitting there listening to Andy discuss life, I realized how blessed I have been to call him brother. A man of integrity...
