Andrew Wierengo's Obituary
Andrew Wierengo III, age 77, passed away Wednesday, December 30, 2020. He was born in Muskegon to Andrew and Cornelia (Funkhouser) Wierengo Jr. He graduated from Muskegon High School, University of Michigan and received a law degree from Washington & Lee University. He served in Vietnam for a year and upon his return, began his journey in the field of law. Andrew practiced law in Muskegon for 25 years and in 1998 was elected to serve as a 60th District Court Judge. After serving on the bench for 17 years, he retired on December 29, 2016. His passion for life included gardening, having a good time, quality time with family, helping others, and growing in his faith. He is survived by his wife, Vicky, of 16 years; children: Steffanie (Scot) Southland and Tighe Wierengo; step-children: Hillary and Brett McPheron; grandchildren: Drew, Jake, and Mayson Southland, Andi and Cooper Wierengo, and Wyatt McPheron; siblings: Emmy (Pete) Koehl, Laurel (Tom) Dahlstedt, Frank (Barb) Wierengo, and Katie Wierengo; many nieces and nephews. FUNERAL SERVICES will be held 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at Laketon Bethel Reformed Church, 1568 W. Giles Rd. Muskegon, MI 49445. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, from 1pm-2pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the West Michigan Veterans, Inc., or The Harbor Hospice Foundation.
