Aneta L. Darbee Houts' Obituary
Our mother, Aneta L. Darbee Houts, age 94, of Grand Haven, passed away on Friday, February 24, 2012 at Heartwood Lodge Hospice House. The former Aneta Eckelcamp was married to Gordon Darbee in March 1938, he preceded her in death in1968. Aneta was remarried on August 1, 1970 to Charles Houts, he preceded her in death in 1993.
Aneta was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Grand Haven, where she taught Sunday school for several years, and was a member of the Church Circle. She was also a member of the Tri-Cities Garden Club. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Aneta is lovingly remembered by three daughters, Deanna Darbee (Asa) Eastling of Zephyrhills, Florida, Gordeen Darbee (Peter) Sherwood of Spring Lake, Margie Darbee (Burnie) Elliott of Lansing; nine grandchildren, Wendy (Brian) Green, Delores Dykhouse, Debbie (Bob) Wagenmaker, Diane (Eric) Deiters, Dawn (Brian) Boyink, Charlotte VanderWall, Clay (Coryn) VanderWall, Larry (Kelly) Schmitt Jr., Kim (Eric) Stevenson; fourteen great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Scott (Retha) Presley of Grand Haven. She was preceded in death by her daughter Nancy Darbee Presley in 1996, and her grandson Thomas G. Epplett in 2006.
The Funeral Service for Aneta will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 28, 2012, at First Presbyterian Church in Grand Haven with Rev. Dr. Thomas Cook officiating. Friends may meet the family Monday, February 27th, from 6-8 PM at the VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Grand Haven. Interment will be in Lake Forest Cemetery. Memorials in honor of Aneta may be given to First Presbyterian Church of Grand Haven or Hospice of North Ottawa Community. Aneta’s family extends a heartfelt thanks to the people at Heartwood Lodge Hospice House and Heartwood Lodge for the wonderful loving care and support they gave the past seventeen months.The family is being served by VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home of Grand Haven.
