Angenieta Margaret De Young's Obituary
Angenieta Margaret De Young of Grand Haven, age 89, passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2018, at Sanctuary at the Shore. She was born November 8, 1928, in Grand Haven to Paul H. and Margaret (Klop) Van Tol, and married Donn De Young, Sr. on September 8, 1949, in Grand Haven. He preceded her in death on March 27, 2006.
Angenieta was a member of Second Reformed Church in Grand Haven. She was a lifelong resident of Grand Haven, and a graduate of GHHS and GVSU, where she studied mathematics, Portuguese and fine arts. Angenieta was a gracious, caring and loving wife and mother, and a humorous woman who loved a good laugh. She enjoyed travel, painting with oils and watercolors, knitting, crocheting, weaving, playing cards, and talking about her four children, eleven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Angenieta loved and accepted young people, welcoming everyone into her home, regardless of their circumstances. She showed her love by feeding everyone who came through her door with great homemade food.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, De Layne De Young of Elkhart, IN; three sons: Donn (Sara) De Young of Apex, NC, Derk (Barbara) De Young of Marietta, GA, and David (Janet) De Young of Grand Haven; eleven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren; her brother, Paul (Effie) Van Tol of Grand Haven; and brother-in-law Alan (Anna) De Witt of Ferrysberg. She was preceded in death by her sister, Marlene De Witt.
