Ann Jilek's Obituary
Mrs. Ann Jilek, age 90, went to be with her Lord early Thursday morning, September 24, 2009, while residing at the Harbor Hospice Poppen House. Ann was born August 2, 1919 in Muskegon to William and Ida (Hamm) Boukamp. She married Jack Jilek on February 14, 1948, and he preceded her in death on December 6, 2000. Ann was an active and faithful member of First Presbyterian Church. Ann fulfilled her dream becoming a nurse and graduated from Mercy School of Nursing and spent many years as an industrial nurse, and later in her career was an RN at Knollview Manor Nursing Home. She was a wonderful mother and wife. She and Jack loved to travel, and she was also an avid knitter, and loved to play Bridge with her friends. Ann is SURVIVED by her son James and daughter-in-law Wendy, and son-in-law Dick Oosting. Also by 8 grand-children: Jeni (Mike) Hekkema, Dustin (Lisa) Jilek, Geoff (Amy) Oosting, Derk (Beth) Oosting, Andrea Oosting, Jamie Oosting, Corrie Oosting and Lisa Jilek. She is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren; one special sister, Emma Jean Payne, and sister-in-law Verna Boukamp; and many nieces and nephews. Along with her husband Jack, she was preceded in death by her precious daughter Judi Oosting, and brothers John and Tonnis Boukamp. A CELEBRATION OF HER LIFE will be held 4 PM Saturday, September 26, 2009 at The Lee Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc., 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444,(231)-798-1100 with Rev. Dr. Fred R. Halde officiating. VISITATION will be 1 hour prior to the service (3-4 PM). INTERMENT will be in Restlawn Cemetery. A very heartfelt thank you to the staff and volunteers at Harbor Hospice Poppen House who cared for and loved her for the past 4 months. In lieu of flowers, please make any memorial contributions to that ministry.
