Ann Van Dyke's Obituary
Mrs. Ann VanDyke, age 94, passed away Tuesday afternoon, May 28, 2013, at St. Mary’s Hospital, Grand Rapids, MI following a fall. She was born to John and Gertie (Carlson) Oosting on July 11, 1918; and has been a life resident of the Muskegon area. On September 10, 1941 she married Joseph VanDyke, who passed away September 8, 2000. She was also preceded in death by her parents, 1 sister, 3 brothers, infant granddaughter, Amy Renee Ward; and a dear uncle and aunt, John and Jennie Schuitema. SURVIVORS include 3 daughters, Janice (Robert) Kovalcik, Anita (Dale) Ward and Luann (Mark) Karafa; 9 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren and by her sister-in-law, Kay Anderson. Ann was employed by Sealed Power, Michigan Bakeries, Inc., Henry’s Food Fair and retired after 20 years of employment at McDonald’s Homemade Candies. She was a member of Allen Avenue Christian Reformed Church and its Ladies Mission Society. She had attended Agape meetings, Muskegon Rescue Mission meetings and luncheons and Bible Clubs at Jefferson Towers. She also enjoyed playing games with family and friends. SERVICES will be held 1PM Friday, May 31, 2013 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc., 6291 S. Harvey Street, Norton Shores, MI 49444 (231-798-1100), with Rev. Robert Bierenga officiating. Burial will be in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. VISITATION with Ann’s family will be 5-8PM Thursday (this evening). MEMORIAL GIFTS to Western Michigan Christian High School, Muskegon Christian School or the Muskegon Rescue Mission will be appreciated.
