Anna Bower's Obituary
Anna Bower, age 97, of Grand Haven and formerly of Los Angeles, CA peacefully passed into heaven on September 17, 2016. She was born on August 28, 1919 to Dick and Hannah Bosch in Ferrysburg and married George Bower on February 14, 1959 and he preceded her in death on December 31, 2003.
She attended Reformed Bible College and in 1950 was called into the mission field to the Telugu people of India. In His good plan, she was led to the Gospel Recordings Ministry in Los Angeles. There she met and married George and together served in this ministry for over 40 years. They entertained many guests to the mission during these years. Special memories for them were the 3 years they spent in South Africa assisting the Gospel Recordings mission in that area. They moved back to Grand Haven in 2002. She enjoyed singing, playing musical instruments, especially the autoharp, crafts and sharing the message of their work and personal experiences.
The family would like to thank her special caregiver, Sarah Vanderwall, Comfort Keepers, Mick McCarthy with Senior Resources and Hospice.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews: Richard (Ione) Bosch, Ellen (Chuck) Michele, Donna Bosch, Beverly (Thomas) Jensen, Joan Kay Bosch, Debra (David) VanderStelt, Steven (Kathy) Dood, Thomas (Kari) Dood, Sally Bosch, Wayne VanderZwaag, Joan Moe and Joyce Bower. She was preceded in death by her sisters and brothers: Virginia Mosley, Ethel Dood, Arie “Robert” Bosch, John “Jack” Bosch, Arthur Bosch, Claude Bosch, and several nieces and nephews, Robbin VanderZwaag, Bonnie (Ken) Millard, Pat Bosch, Arthur Bosch, Jr., and Paul Bosch.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Thursday, September 22, 2016 at Spring Lake Christian Reformed Church with Pastor Kelvin Miller officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church. Memorial contributions may be given to Eagle Rock Baptist Church in Los Angeles or Gospel Recordings.
