Anna McGregor's Obituary
Anna McGregor, age 98, of Grand Haven passed away on Friday, January 11, 2013, at a local care facility. She was born January 4, 1915, in Chicago, IL, to Joseph and Helen (Weitz) Appel. She married William McGregor on May 24, 1932 in Grand Haven, and he preceded her in death on May 24, 1988.
Anna came here from Chicago in 1920 and was a homemaker who loved to hunt, sew, cook, make crafts, go camping, and moving furniture constantly as she was considered by the family as an “Interior Designer”. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, and previously had worked at Fricano’s Pizza and Camfield’s. Anna touched each family member’s life in a special way, and will be missed dearly by all of them.
She is lovingly remembered by 2 sons: James “Jim” McGregor, of Grand Haven and William “Bill” McGregor, of Spring Lake; daughter-in-law, Jean McGregor of Fruitport; 18 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; 27 great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Emily (David) Harden of Grand Haven; a brother, Pete (Carol) Appel, of Grand Haven. She was preceded in death by her husband William, a son, Robert, 2 daughters-in-law, Mavis and Viola; 3 sisters, Mary, Liz, and Helen; 7 brothers: Joe, Louie, Marcus, Charles, John, Bill, and Nick; great-grandson, Brandon Sprader.
The Funeral Mass for Anna will be held at 12:00 Noon Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Grand Haven with Rev. Fr. Daniel DePew officiating. Friends may meet the family on Monday from 7-9 PM at the VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Grand Haven, and 2 hours prior to the Mass at Church. Interment will be in Lakeshore Cemetery, following the luncheon at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Memorial contributions may be given to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church or A-T Children’s Project.
