Anna "Ann" Stephens' Obituary
Mrs. Anna “Ann” Stephens, age 89, passed away Thursday morning, October 6, 2016. She was born December 16, 1926 in Muskegon to John and Hilje (Klooster) Doornbos and had been a life resident of the area. On December 3, 1948 she married Stanley G. Stephens in Muskegon and he preceded her in death on March 26, 2012. Ann was an active and dedicated member of the former East Muskegon Christian Reformed Church, First Christian Reformed Church, and most recently First Wesleyan Church. Since 1951 she volunteered with the Muskegon Rescue Mission Women’s Auxiliary and as a 1945 graduate of Ravenna High School had helped organize her high school class reunions for many years. Ann loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. She also took it upon herself to be the family historian. She will be greatly missed. SURVIVORS include 4 children: Sandra (Larry) Fairbanks of Grand Haven, Terrance Stephens, Vonnie (Doug) Wilson, Edward Stephens all of Muskegon; 11 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; brother, Derk Doornbos of Grand Haven; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; 3 brothers: Otto, Hank, and Casey Doornbos; and 2 sisters: Anna Marie Doornbos and Frieda Girard. SERVICES will be held 11:00 AM Monday, October 10, 2016 at First Wesleyan Church with Rev. Michael Schultz officiating. VISITATION with the family will be from 2-5 PM Sunday at The Sytsema Chapel, 737 Apple Ave., (231) 726-5210 and also one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will take place in Oakwood Cemetery. Memorials to the Muskegon Rescue Mission, First Wesleyan Church, or Hospice of Michigan will be appreciated.
