Anna M. Balcom's Obituary
Mrs. Anna Marie Balcom, age 82, passed away Saturday, November 1, 2008 at Mercy Hospital. She was born October 24, 1926 in Petoskey, MI to George and Anna (Toth) Rostar and lived most of her life in the Muskegon area. On August 30, 1947, she married Donald N. Balcom in Muskegon Heights and he preceded her in death on October 10, 1975. Prior to retirement in 1998, she worked 19 years for Michigan Plastics in Grand Haven. She had also worked at J & R, Spiegel’s and Anaconda. Anna enjoyed her lunches with the “Anaconda Ladies”, the school groups and exercise groups. She loved flowers, working puzzles and especially enjoyed her time with the grandchildren. Sending cards to her family and friends for birthdays and anniversaries brought great joy to Anna. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. SURVIVORS include her 5 sons, Donald (Juli) Balcom of Lansing, Brent Balcom of Norton Shores, Craig (Carrie) Balcom of Hesperia, Jerome (Deborah) Balcom of Fruitport, Jeffery Balcom of Atlanta, GA; 8 grandchildren, Brian, Jennifer, Angela, Kris, Tracy, Chad, Heather, Andrew; 6 great-grandchildren, David, Michael, Katelyn, Hannah, Grace and Amelia; 3 brothers, George (Fran) Rostar, Jim (Linda) Rostar, Edward (Linda) Rostar; 4 sisters, Irene (Forrest) Scott, Rose Marie (David) Johnson, Mary Jean Rostar, and Sister Carmen Rostar, O.P. She was also preceded in death by her grandson, Jason Balcom, parents, sister, Margaret Miller and brother, John Rostar. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be celebrated 10:00 AM Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Thomas J. Brown as celebrant. INTERMENT will take place at Sunrise Memorial Gardens. VISITATION with Anna’s family will be 2-4 and 6-8 PM Tuesday at
