Anne Francis' Obituary
Anne Francis, age 85, of West Olive passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2009, at a local care facility. She was born October 19, 1923, in Marion, IN, to Charles and Violet Rose (Boxel) Ferguson, and she married LeRoy H. Francis, Sr. on May 4, 1949 in Grand Haven. He preceded her in death on February 17, 1990.
Anne was employed at Lifesavers in Holland for 15 years and retired in 1988. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, and she enjoyed bingo, bowling, crocheting, gardening, watching and feeding wildlife.
She is lovingly remembered by 5 daughters: Linda (Jack) Start of Wyoming, MI, Susan (Jim) Lonnee of Pekin, IL, Patricia Eble of Holland, Rene Sibley of Muskegon, and Carrie Jayne of Grand Junction, CO; 4 sons: LeRoy M. (Jean) Francis, Jr. of Stedman, NC, Ronald R. (Johanna) Francis of Hudsonville, John W. (Sheryl) Francis of Grand Rapids, and Kirk A. (June) Francis of Holland; 25 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy; 2 daughters, Anna Pennington, and Carol Francis; sons-in-law Gary Sibley and Robert Jayne; a sister, Myrna DeVries; and 2 brothers, Joseph and Sherman Ferguson.
The Funeral Mass for Anne will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 29, 2009 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Grand Haven with Rev. William Langlois as celebrant. Friends may meet the family from 5-8 p.m. Sunday, June 28, at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Grand Haven with a scripture service beginning at 7:30 p.m. Interment will be in Historic Cemetery.
