Anne L. Lawie's Obituary
Mrs. Anne L. Lawie, age 82, passed away surrounded by her family on Friday, April 27, 2018. She was born on February 26, 1936 in Muskegon to William and Naomi (Genson) Hodges and was a life-long resident of the area. Anne was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church. After graduating from the Hackley School of Nursing, she worked as a nurse for 52 years with Hackley and Mercy Hospitals, Visiting Nurses, Amicare, and Harbor Hospice prior to retiring in 2010. Anne loved quilting and oil painting, was an avid reader, and loved traveling even spending a year in Alaska. On September 14, 1957, she married James “Jim” Lawie, and they would have celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary this fall. SURVIVORS include her husband, Jim; five children, James “Jim” Lawie of Cadillac, Michael (Shelley) Lawie, Kathy (Pat Somerville) Carpenter, Jackie (Kirk) Somerville, and Joni (Troy) Hall all of Muskegon; 12 grandchildren, Justin (Wendy) Twining, Tyler Lawie, Kristina Lawie, Nicole (Carl) Crocker, Chad (LeeAnn) Lawie, Mindy (Nick) Andrews, Chuck Carpenter, Joshua (Megan) Somerville, Kaitlin (Jesse) Valentin, Annie Somerville, Ryan Anne (Spencer) Smith and Colton Hall, 12 great-grandchildren, Scott, Adalee, Josephine, Jackson, Lily, Hobie, Charlie, Leo, Vincent, Nora, Hazel, Otto; two brothers, William (Joyce) Hodges of Muskegon, and Thomas (Ann) Hodges of Summerfield, FL; two sisters, Pamela (Chuck) Fagan of Parker, CO, and Sue (Emmit) Moore of Coopersville, MI; and daughter-in-law, Kathy Lawie. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11AM Wednesday at Prince of Peace Catholic Church (1100 Dykstra Rd.) with Rev. Fr. Godfrey Onyekwere presiding. VISITATION with the family will be 1 hour prior to the service, from 10-11AM. Memorial Contributions in Anne’s name to Harbor Hospice will be appreciated.
