Anne C. Vandervelde's Obituary
Anne C. Vandervelde, age 77, passed away on Tuesday, June 8, 2021, at Harbor Hospice of Muskegon. She was born on January 2, 1944, to John and Patricia (Carpenter) Cushman in Detroit, MI. On November 1, 1980, she married the love of her life, William Vandervelde, and together they spent 40 happy years. Anne was a math teacher for 15 years in Saint Clare Shores Michigan. Where she met her husband, Bill. They moved to Muskegon in 1980 and Bill took over his father’s business Vandervelde’s Furniture. Anne worked at the store for many wonderful years. She was an avid Tigers fan along with anything University of Michigan where she graduated. She went on to earn her master’s degree from Oakland University. When Anne was not working or in school, Anne loved spending time with family and friends. She really enjoyed reading many books, playing card games or later in life sitting down at the Muskegon Elks campground. Anne is survived by her loving husband, Bill Vandervelde; son, John Vandervelde; sisters, Suzanne Fair, Linda (Thomas) Koening. She was preceded in death by her parents.
