Annette Florence "Sis" "Nana" Ramirez's Obituary
Annette Florence Ramirez, affectionately known as “Sis” and “Nana” to her family and grandkids, passed away very unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 at her home. She was 87 years old. Sis was born February 27, 1938 in Pittsburgh, PA to William and Florence (Schaner) Mason and lived most of her life in the Muskegon area. On August 21, 1965, she married John F. Ramirez at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Muskegon and he survives her. Sis graduated from Mount Mercy School of Nursing and had worked over 25 years as a Registered Nurse for Visiting Nurses, Inc. before retiring in 1999. Sis attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church for many years before it’s closing where she had also volunteered for many activities over the years, including funeral lunches and working the food pantry. Sis enjoyed time with her friends - especially her breakfast and lunch dates. She was always busy with her hands and loved to solve puzzles. Sis collected angels and especially enjoyed traveling with John throughout the state of Michigan, and 3 trips to Europe and 1 trip to China. She will be greatly missed by her loving family and many dear friends. Survivors include her husband, John Ramirez; 2 children, Jennifer (Michael) Mitchell, Paul (Heather) Ramirez; 6 grandchildren, Gage (fiancé, Amanda Kinney) Mitchell, Nathan Ramirez, Madison Mitchell, Zane Ramirez, Jake (Sam) Hensley, Bailey (Dillion) Monzosa; 4 great-grandchildren, Linkyn, Max, Ayla, Tate; 4 brothers, William D. Mason, Nicholas (Flora) Mason, Eugene Mason, Patrick (Carol) Mason; 2 brothers-in-law, Tony Ramirez, Rene Carrillo; 4 sisters-in-law, Jane Mason, Margaret Roberts, Fran Wambaugh, Gloria (Ron) Medema; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; 1 brother, Earl Mason, 1 sister, Shirley Mason; 3 brothers-in-law, Art (Marion) Ramirez, William Roberts, Garth Wambaugh; 2 sisters-in-law, Chris (Mike) Purcell, Sandy Mason. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, December 13, 2025 at The VanZantwick Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 620 Washington Avenue, Grand Haven, MI 49417, with Fr. Norman P. Droski presiding and a tribute offered by the Muskegon Area Nurse Honor Guard. Visitation will be held 4-7 PM Friday and 1 hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
