Annette Ann Ross' Obituary
Annette (Ann) Ross, age 83, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 15, 2023 at the Poppen Residence in Muskegon, Michigan. She was born in Detroit, Michigan on May 15, 1940 to Jesse and Sylvia (Coponen) Ross.
After graduating high school in L ‘Anse Michigan she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Central Michigan University, and Master’s Degree in Education from Wayne State University. She taught and coached middle and high school for 26 years in the Mt Clemens School District, and then became an education consultant with Susan Kovalik Associates until her retirement.
Teaching was her passion. She worked to connect curriculum with real life experiences, and was thrilled when students, and fellow teachers, became excited and empowered by learning.
She loved golf, cross-stitching, photography, owls, and most of all, people. Everywhere she went, she made friends. Her work took her to most of the states in the US and to several countries abroad. She was on a first name basis with everyone she met, and often became a dear friend to many. She will be missed.
Ann was impacted by Alzheimer’s. She was fortunate to spend her last 4 years in the loving care and support of Christian Haven in Grand Haven, MI. They were her family and her days were filled with laughter and joy!
Ann is survived by several nieces and nephews, and many special friends from her life-long travels.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Jeanette Holso, Virginia Miller, and brother, Larry Ross.
A memorial service will be held in the spring of 2024 in L ’Anse, Michigan. Memorial contributions in memory of Ann may be given to the Benevolent Fund of Sunset Legacy Foundation (Christian Haven), Bluebird Cancer Retreats of Michigan, or Harbor Hospice Poppen House. Other loving memorials to Ann would be to take a walk in nature, enjoy the view over Lake Michigan, remember a special teacher, be a good friend, but most of all … be kind, be real, be happy.
Arrangements are being handled at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St, Norton Shores, MI 49444. Share memories with family at www.sytsemafh.com
