Annie Mae Paschal's Obituary
The beautiful, spirited Mrs. Annie Mae Paschal was born to Willie and Daisy Thomas on June 26, 1925 in Shreveport, Louisiana. She completed grade school in Louisiana. As an adult, she migrated North to the Muskegon area in search of a better life. Shortly after moving, she met the love of her life Thurman Paschal Sr. They married in 1949 and to their union three children were born. He precedes her in death passing on the same day as Annie in 2003. Annie accepted Christ at an early age and truly loved The Lord. As a disciple, she shared the gospel, good news, and goodness of God with almost everyone she encountered and was such a blessing to so many. Annie became a member of Friendship Baptist Church making this her church home throughout the duration of her life. As a lifetime member she became one the church stewards and mothers of the church. Annie worked as a laundry maid at Muskegon's Osteopathic Hospital. She also spent significant time in the same occupation at the Ramada Inn Hotel in Muskegon. Her jobs gave her joy and allowed her and Thurman the opportunity to save and purchase their family home where she lovingly raised her children, grandchildren, and others. Her family and community were the apple of her eye and made her so very happy and joyful. Annie enjoyed cooking soul food and really cooked from the heart. She also loved to garden! Many of us knew her for her vegetables which often came from her own garden. She would prepare delicious soul food that created great family memories. In her later days, she was extremely fond of a good burger and Lee's Famous Recipe Chicken. Most importantly she enjoyed sharing her cooking with family and others. She also loved fishing and loved to dance! She loved all types of artists but one of her favorites was James Brown. Annie could get down and had no problem showing off her dance skills whenever some good music was blaring. Annie had a hand in the upbringing of many children, not just her own. She was a very loving caregiver and motherly figure in the lives of many people. She was an amazing woman and will be missed and honored by all who knew her. She was a treasure, a jewel, and a gem to her family and those that knew and cared about her. She was your favorite girl and favorite granny that poured into you whenever she had a chance. She was a gift and a blessing to us. Always reminding us to trust God and to lean and depend on God for everything. Her resilience and relentless faith carried her throughout her life and is celebrated today as she takes eternal rest in the loving arms and hands of The Father. Annie Mae, mama, grandma, or Mrs. Paschal was known for her beautiful smile, infectious energy, care, and love for others will be missed.
