Anthony H. "Tony" VanBergen's Obituary
Mr. Anthony H. “Tony” VanBergen, age 84, died Tuesday evening, February 17, 2004. He was born March 9, 1919 in Muskegon to Fred and Edna (Maycroft) VanBergen and had been a life resident. Mr. VanBergen worked for Teledyne Continental Motors for 38 years before his retirement. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran of WWII, was a member of the Fruitport Eagles, the Holton American Legion, and loved to fish. Mr. VanBergen married the former Maxine Close, and she preceded him in death. He then married the former Aileen M. Close on May 30, 1947 in Muskegon, and she also preceded him in death. SURVIVORS include 2 children, Dann (Shelby) VanBergen, Jean (Melvin) Hentschel both of Muskegon; 2 granddaughters, Megan and Lacey Hentschel; and 3 special grandsons, Snickers, Elliot, and Anthony. He was also preceded in death by a son, Michael VanBergen; 2 brothers; and 5 sisters. VISITATION with the family will be from 2-4 & 6-8 PM Friday at
