Anthony "Tony" Joseph Oza's Obituary
Mr. Anthony J. “Tony” Oza, age 93, passed away Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at Mercy Health Partners. He was born June 8, 1917 in Nirvana, MI to Joseph and Rosalia M. (Wach) Ozaistowicz and lived in the Muskegon area most of his life. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps as a young man. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the Pacific Theatre during WWII. Tony worked over 40 years at Campbell, Wyant & Cannon Foundry and retired as a casting inspector in 1979. On September 27, 1947, he married the former Phyllis S. Pepera in Muskegon and she survives him. He was a member of the Manistee Eagle’s and the Polish Falcons. Tony was an avid golfer, enjoyed gardening and was a fisherman. He was a devoted fan of Muskegon Catholic Central Football and held season tickets for many years. He was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. Along with his wife, Phyllis, he is also survived by 3 children, Susan (John) Jazdzyk of Cheboygan, Joe (Lucy) Oza of Norton Shores, Mark (Melissa) Oza of Grand Haven; 6 grandchildren, Stephenie (Tony) Jacobson, Aimee Jazdzyk, Stasha Jazdzyk, Anthony “Tony” Jazdzyk, Eric Anthony Oza, Jennifer Oza; 3 great-grandsons, Samuel, Daniel and Joseph Anthony Jacobson; 1 brother, Leon (Lorraine) Szymanski of Muskegon; and 1 sister-in-law, Edna Szymanski of North Muskegon. He was also preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, John Ozaistowicz, Walter Ozaistowicz, Steve Szymanski; and 2 sisters, Rose Romanosky, and Frances Frantz. THE MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be celebrated 12:00 PM Saturday, February 5, 2011, in Marian Chapel at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Philip P. Salmonowicz as celebrant. ENTOMBENT will take place at St. Mary’s Mausoleum. VISITATION with Tony’s family will be 2-4 and 6-8 PM Friday at The Walburn Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc., 1547 W. Sherman Blvd., (231) 759-8565. The Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 PM Friday evening at the funeral home. Visitation will also be available one hour prior to the Mass, 11 AM - 12 PM Saturday in Marian Chapel.
