Mr. Archie Duane Runnels' Obituary
Mr. Archie Duane Runnels, age 80, passed away Thursday morning, April 18, 2013, at The Brookhaven Medical Care Facility. Archie was born on January 17, 1933, in White Cloud, MI, to John F. and Violet (Arnold) Runnels. He moved to this area when he was 7 years old and Graduated from Muskegon High School. Archie served his country in the United States Navy. On October 20, 1956, he married the former Jane Dempsey and she survives him. Arch worked as a supervisor at Teledyne Continental Motors for close to 30 years and then found his passion, selling cars. Over the next many years, Arch sold cars for Friendly Motors, Matson’s, Dan Cooper, and Tom Miller. He was a member of the Elks Lodge #274 since 1972, holding many offices and serving on many committees. He started up the annual pig roast at Elk’s Park. Arch love to fish, enjoyed camping at Elk’s park, sitting around the fire; where he was known for his expert yodeling. He also loved the occasional late night trip to the casino. Archie was a wonderful man, who always had a terribly terrific positive attitude. He will be deeply missed and is survived by his wife of 57 years, Jane; a daughter, Lynn (Carl) Miller of Lamont, MI; 2 sons, Tom (Jennifer Chatham) of Muskegon and David Runnels of Norton Shores; 7 grandchildren, Camen, Ariel, Lauren, Kristyn, Stephanie, Brittnay, and Michael; 3 great grandchildren, Zavian, Caden, and Kelysse; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, AnnaBelle Miller and a brother, Robert Runnels. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held 11:00 AM Monday, April 22, 2013 at The Lee Chapel 6291 S. Harvey St. 231-798-1100
with Pastor John Brown officiating and Full Military Rites under the auspices of VFW Muskegon County Council. VISITATION will be held Sunday from 2-5 PM with the Lodge of Sorrows Service at 4:30PM and one hour prior to the service on Monday. Entombment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS may be made to the Brookhaven Medical Care Facility Activity Fund.
