Archie L. Johnson's Obituary
Mr. Archie L. Johnson, age 86, passed away Sunday evening, January 10, 2010. He was born May 19, 1923 to Albert and Fannie (Sauvola) Johnson in Duluth, MN, and had lived in Muskegon for the past nine years. He married the former Louise M. Abrahamson on Sept. 6, 1947 in Superior, WI, and she survives him. Mr. Johnson had been employed as a design engineer at United States Steel Corp. in Chicago, IL for 33 years, retiring in 1983. He was a former member of Beverly Covenant Church in Chicago, a member of Central United Methodist Church in Muskegon, and was a combat-wounded Army veteran of World War II. His SURVIVORS include his wife, Louise; three sons: Daniel (Renee) Johnson of Hinsdale, IL, Rev. James (Rev. Jan) Johnson of Muskegon, and David (Barbara) Johnson of Portland, OR; seven grandchildren; two brothers: Arnold (Donna) Johnson of Duluth, MN and Donald (Yolanda) Johnson of Branson West, MO; and a sister-in-law, Hazel Johnson of Duluth, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents, a baby sister, Arlene, and a brother, Armand Johnson. The MEMORIAL SERVICE for Mr. Johnson will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday at The Lee Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc., 6291 S. Harvey St., (231)-798-1100 with Rev. Susan Hagans officiating. Inurnment will take place later at Central United Methodist Church’s Columbarium. VISITATION with the family will be one hour prior to the service, Noon to 1 PM. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS may be made to the Pastoral Care Fund at Central United Methodist Church or Harbor Hospice.
