Ardis L. Drabik's Obituary
Ardis L. Drabik, age 97, passed away April 24, 2020 after a courageous fight with coronavirus, at Seminole Shores, where she was under hospice care. Ardis was born on December 14, 1922, in Muskegon, MI to Eleanor (Shippy) and Jay Scott. Ardis grew up during the Great Depression. She wed Edward H. Drabik of Muskegon on September 21, 1944, as he joined the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. After the war, Ed and Ardis were blessed with two daughters, Susan and Cindy. The Korean War saw Ed recalled. Serving a total of 27 years, in the U.S. Air Force; Ed, Ardis, and girls moved to various states, Newfoundland, and Germany. Retiring from service, in 1969, Ed and Ardis moved back to Muskegon, where both daughters attended college. They spent their remaining 41 years, together, joining the Viking’s Linne #57 Lodge, and Our Lady of Grace Church. Ardis enjoyed sewing and both did arts and crafts. Ed passed away at home in 2010. Ardis was the last of her siblings to survive. One brother-in-law, Robert Young, of Roosevelt Park, one of Ed’s brothers-in-law, Art Wlodkowski, of Irons, MI, and many nieces and nephews survive. Ardis is mourned by her daughters: Susan (Bill) Gray of Spring Lake, MI, and Cindy (Jim) Strzalko of Port Orange, FL; her granddaughter, Jennifer (Joe Duris) Gray of Harrisburg, PA; her grandson, Josh (Brooke) Strzalko of Oveido, FL. Also, four great grandchildren: Ava, Serena, Jack, and Hudson Strzalko, who called Ardis-Grandma Great. Due to the coronavirus, a private graveside service will be held with Fr. Matt Barnum presiding. A Mass of Christian Burial will be announced at a later date.
