Mrs. Ardis C. Rasor's Obituary
Ardis Coral Rasor passed away April 20, 2016. Born to Everett and Cecile (Blackmer) Anderson, July 4, 1923 in Ravenna, MI. She spent most of her life living in Ravenna and Muskegon. She graduated from Ravenna High School in 1942 and Western Michigan University in 1968, both with high honors. She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil O. Rasor, whom she married in December 1947; her parents; a brother, Lyle Anderson; a sister, Doris Klein Whalen; step-son, Jerry Rasor; and sister-in-law, Verna Parrott. Early in her life she worked for Central Paper Co. and the United States Civil Service. She was employed by Muskegon Public Schools for twenty-five years as a school librarian and at Hackley Public Library. Ardis retired from there as Interim Director in 1982. Ardis enjoyed her family, the arts, creative activities, traveling, learning, and volunteering. She was a member of Lake Harbor United Methodist Church, Western Michigan University Alumni Association, Muskegon County Genealogy Society, and the Michigan Education Association. She had also served as an officer of the Michigan Library Association and the Michigan Education Association-Retired. She is survived by her three children; Paula Dasen (Al Dasen), Linda Rasor (Michael Hennesey), and Allen Rasor (Dawn Zdravecky); five grandchildren, Aris Albaitis, Kevin Rasor, Maria Loerke, Jerald (Chip) Rasor, and Traci Rasor; two great-grandchildren, Cari Rasor and Andrew Rasor; daughter-in-law, Kaye Rasor; and many caring relatives and friends whom she loved dearly. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, April 23, 2016 at 4P.M. at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores with the Rev. Mary Ivanov, officiating. Visitation will be 2-4 P.M., prior to the service. Interment will be at Ravenna Township Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Lake Harbor United Methodist Church.
