Arleen Ann Kompik's Obituary
Mrs. Arleen Ann Kompik, age 101, passed away Tuesday, February 17, 2026 in Suttons Bay, Michigan. She was born in Pentwater, Michigan on January 6, 1925 to Charles Robert and Lena Olive (Freeland) Bowden. After graduating from Pentwater High School, Arleen moved to Muskegon where she worked at Norge helping to build engines during WWII. She also worked at Continental Motors, and later became an Amway Distributor. Arleen was an avid square and round dancer with her husband, Stanley, and they were long-time members of the Hi-Nabors Square Dance Club where they served as President for many years. She also enjoyed many years in a league with friends at the Northway Bowling Alley. As a homemaker, Arleen volunteered where their daughters attended school at Orchard View and was in charge of the band uniforms as well as making costumes for the OV Aquaette Club synchronized swimming shows. Arleen was a talented seamstress and taught a Sewing Club as a 4-H Leader. Besides traveling and camping with her family, Arleen enjoyed cooking, gardening, growing flowers, and watching the many birds visiting her yard. On August 14, 1948 Arleen married Stanley William Kompik at the Central Methodist Church in Muskegon and is survived by their two daughters, Karen Jean (Jim) Woodrum and Cheryl Ann Hansen; two granddaughters, Stacie Ann (Ben) Carpenter and Aimee Jean Woodrum Huckleby; five great-grandsons, Leland James, Ganson William, and Mason Benjamin Carpenter, and Parker James and Caiden Jean Huckleby; and one sister, Mary Lou Mitteer. After 68 wonderful years together, Arleen was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley; as well as her parents; four brothers, Austin, William, Jack, and Charles Bowden; one sister, Chrystal June Dickman; and son-in-law, Rick Hansen. SERVICES will be at 11:30 AM Monday, March 16, 2026 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444 with Rev. Sarah Klassen officiating.
